Interactive Diagrams in Primary School Teaching

Think It! is an innovative suite of software applications developed in Adobe Flash. The package enables teachers to generate exercises to help learners learn across Key Stages 1-2 and by developing their skills of comprehension, application, analysis, evaluation and meta-cognition. This resource is specifically tailored for use with the Interactive Whiteboard as well as individual work stations. All activities can also be printed out to use in the classroom.

See examples below of how to use the various components for different primary subjects.

Living Graph (Maths example)

Living Graph allows the user to input a series of events which can be placed on the graph in chronological order to take into account the factors (determined by the user) on the Y axis.

Note-It (Homophones)

Note It! allows the user to create a bank of notes, ideas or concepts that can be colour coded for categorisation, sequencing or used as a mapping tool.

Venn Diagram (Maths example)

An old favourite! The user determines the nature of each of the three circles (a double venn diagram is also inlcuded in the product) and is able to create text boxes which must then be categorised within the diagram. This version is somewhat different as it lets the user drag each choice into the required location.

Jigsaw (Chronology and Time example)

Jigsaw allows the user to create interlocking jigsaw pieces which can then be ordered by learners to recount a story or to link ideas and concepts.

On installation, Think It! creates a folder called “My Think It!” files where the user can save all exercises created within Think It!

GCSE Oral exam revision and practice

“J’ai une question!” is the ideal whiteboard or networkable resource to teach pupils to prepare, practise and develop spontaneity and confidence in their GCSE oral question answers. The resource also focuses on giving justified opinions to allow pupils to meet the criteria for the highest grades. It is designed to aid and engage learners and represents excellent value for money.

“J’ai une question!” has been accredited by Promethean and awarded the PrometheanActivboard “Friendly” Kitemark. Following rigorous testing on a range of criteria, this kitemark is only awarded to software that works perfectly with an Activboard and adds value to the learning experience.

“J’ai une question!” is attractively designed within PowerPoint and contains over 70 suggested GCSE oral questions covering a full range of tenses, as well as several interactive activities which consolidate pupils' learning. The resource is divided into six topic areas accessible from a central index.

The topic areas include:

  • Leisure
  • Tourism
  • Environment
  • Personal Relationships
  • Education and Work
  • Home Life

"J’ai une question!” allows teachers, or students working independently, to access this range of questions and explore prompts to assist them in fully answering the questions. Each question has a series of five prompts which offer learners various colour coded options to help them complete their answer. A button link from each question allows the teaching and learning of a range of positive and negative opinion words and justification of opinions.

Once answers have been explored and prepared, the resource can be used as a starter or plenary to aid ongoing revision as pupils memorise their structured answer before the prompt disappears from the screen. “J’ai une question!” can be adapted by teachers with a basic knowledge of PowerPoint who may wish to alter the phrasing of some of the questions to suit their classes.
